Drawing Paris

Author(s): David George Holm

Architecture

As one of Australia's leading architects, David Holm is passionate about drawing, the built environment and travel. This Christmas he offers us Drawing Paris - an architectural guide to the most beautiful (and planned) city in the world. Why Paris? The history of Parisian architecture is the history of Europe - from the medieval origins of the Louvre palace, through to Napoleon's grand designs, Hausmann's great visionary boulevards and IM Pei's controversial pyramid. Paris is an architect's dream. David explains the history of Paris as he takes us on a grand tour of Paris through her 12 arrondissement. With his trademark exquisite drawings of the major buildings, clear explanatory text and all new supporting photographs, this book distils the history and beauty of Paris into one guide book. Designed for use on the ground (hence the flexi-bound paperback format) as well as in the armchair, Drawing Paris shows us all the major sites - Arc De Triomphe, Avenue Des Champs Elysee, Basilque Du Sacre Coeur, Boulevarde Saint Germain, Charles De Gaulle Airport, Eiffel Tower, Jardin Des Tuileries, La Defense Grande Arche, Musee Du Louvre, Notre Dame, Pantheon, Place De La Concorde, Place De L'odeon, Place De L'opera, Place Du La Bastille, Place Du Palais Royale, Pont Nuef, Rue De Rivoli, Villa Savoy, Versailles and many more.
