Mac the Dog Man

Author(s): Elizabeth Vercoe

Picture Books Paper Back

Described as delightful and thoroughly engaging, this book about the real life Mac (who's in his eighth decade) just begged to be written. It was completely inspired by the captivating image of 82-year old Mac walking six dogs on leads, pushing a seventh in a red children's buggy on his morning river stroll. Picture him rounding the corner on a gravel path, majestic gum trees behind, morning mist just rising...and you have the genesis of Mac the Dog Man. Mac walks other people's dogs in all kinds of weather. He collects them en route and his magical handling skills mean that he can do his other favourite thing - which is to stop and have a yarn with the people he meets. The book has been designed for both pre and beginning readers. It contains fresh vibrant full colour water illustrations alongside fun scribbly line drawings. Rhythm, humour and repetition will engage and hold both young and old readers.
