Author description

Born in India to an Indian father and English mother, Jamila's many books for children and young adults have multicultural themes. She won the Whitbread Children's Book of the Year award in 2000 (Coram Boy) and was runner-up in The Guardian Children's Fiction award (The Surya Trilogy). Her work has been adapted for stage and television.
